The Call
Come witness the breathtaking performance of The Call by Ballet Magnificat on the Rome City Auditorium stage! Prepare to experience the artistic grace and athletic skill of this world-renowned company as they bring emotional events from the 1950s to life.
The Call shares the story of Elisabeth Elliot, beginning with her courtship with Jim Elliot before they joined the mission field in the Ecuador jungle. The performance demonstrates the growing passion and thrill that Jim shared with his friend, Pete Fleming, missionary aviator Nate Saint, and two other missionaries as they sought to bring the Gospel story to a hostile native tribe. Feel the tension and shock of the tragic silence that Elisabeth and the other young mothers experienced when they realized that their husbands would not return from their mission. America was shocked by the dramatic coverage in Life Magazine. Within a few short months, Elisabeth joins with Rachel Saint (sister of mission aviator Nate) to share the miracle of God’s forgiveness by ministering to the very tribe that butchered her husband Jim, Nate Saint, and the other missionaries.
Elisabeth’s story ironically shares parallels to recent events in Utah, where a hostile projectile slew Charlie Kirk and his wife Erika, herself a young mother, who very publicly and dramatically forgave the young man who killed her husband.
This is a love story, a love story on many levels. It is a story appropriate for all age levels.

The Scarlet Cord
On Friday March 8, 2024 at 7:30 pm Ballet Magnificat! America’s Premiere Christian Ballet Company will perform their original Ballet, The Scarlet Cord at the Rome City
The Scarlet Cord, is a timely piece for today’s audience.
The choreographer, Jiri Sebastian Voborsky, grew up in Communist Czechoslovakia under while all of eastern Europe endured Soviet domination. As a student he actively participated in The Velvet Revolution. During these years he found faith in Christ through the witness and testimony of a mentor dance instructor. He draws upon the experiences of his youth weave a dramatic story inspired by the symbolism of the scarlet cord in the story of Rahab from the biblical book of Joshua.
The Scarlet Cord paints a gripping tale set during the chilling era of the Cold War, a time when an authoritarian regime sought to clamp down on the very essence of thought and freedom. This narrative ballet brings to life the saga of two courageous missionaries who stand firm in their faith amidst the harshness of the communist Soviet Union. The central figure, Rahab, confronts the agony of abandonment and finds her world upended by the betrayal of a Soviet commander she loved. Her path intersects with the missionaries who extend the lifeline of hope found in Jesus Christ, sparking a revolution of the heart against the cold backdrop of political subjugation.
This ballet shows the Lord’s amazing plan of redemption working in the midst of unlikely places, woven through life like a scarlet cord.
After touring this performance through Louisiana, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee, Ballet Magnificat! will take this performance to Japan at the end of March. Last year this company toured through Africa and appeared on Ugandan National Television.
